INFORMATION

Students are kept informed about all cultural events and entertainment in general in Florence. Our secretarial staff is always ready to answer all student inquires (train and plane timetables, addresses of hotels in other cities, etc.).

 


 

LIBRARY AND AUDITORIUM

In the afternoon, the students can study or read (over 800 book titles on catalogue on various topics, as well as newspapers and magazines) in the library, watch television, a film or an opera (over 100 films and operas to be enjoyed even privately and free of charge on the giant screen in the auditorium) or listen to cassettes and CDs of Italian popular songs and classical music.

 


 

LANGUAGE LABORATORY

The students can listen to cassettes to improve their pronunciation and study the grammatical structures they have learned.

 


 

PIANO FOR MUSICIANS

The piano in the music room is available to students free of charge so that musicians can practice during their stay in Florence.

STUDENT CARD

With the "Carta Istituto Italiano" students can enter many Florentine clubs and discos free of charge or with very good discounts, shop in certain stores at special prices and enjoy discounts in many restaurants. Each student receives a list of the establishments where the cards are honored.

 


 

FAX AND E-MAIL SERVICE

Upon request, students can have their own personal E-mail address; they can also send and receive faxes through our secretarial office.

 


 

SCHOLARSHIPS

To apply for a scholarship, contact the Italian Cultural Institutes, universities, consulates or embassies in your home country, or contact the Ministero degli Affari Esteri, Dipartimento IX, Piazzale della Farnesina 1, 00194, Rome, Italy.

 


 

VISAS AND MEDICAL SERVICES

Residents of EEC countries do not need a visa, but they must contact their national health service to obtain an E111 form which will allow them to receive free medical services in Italy.
Students from other countries are advised to obtain private health insurance and to contact the Italian embassy in their country to check on visa requirements and formalities.
