THE LANGUAGE OF THE LIBRETTI
This course is for opera singers or opera lovers who want to be able to understand the language of librettos by Metastasio, Da Ponte, Illica and Giacosa and Piave. The course analyzes the relationship between the text and the music in the historical context.
HISTORY OF OPERA
This course covers opera from its origins in the seventeenth century Medici court up to modern trends through analysis of the works of Monteverdi, Pergolesi Rossini, Verdi and Puccini.
SINGING
The course, which is taught by professional singers, includes vocal technique and interpretation. Students will have an opportunity to perform before an audience in a recital at the conclusion of the course.
DICTION
This course is particularly useful for opera singers who want to improve their diction under the guidance of expert teachers.
